(JEWPI) Abby Schwartz-the first ever national coordinator of Jewish American Heritage Month set for May 2010, presents two proclamations to Rabbi Hayyim J. Angel and Rabbi Shalom Morris of Congregation Shearith Israel- the first Jewish congregation of North America established in 1654. The first proclamation was issued in 2006 by George W Bush and the second by Mayor Bloomberg in 2010. Both proclaim JAHM for May 2010.

(Irvine, CA JEWPI) — New evidence allegedly shows that the University of California, Irvine Muslim Student Union orchestrated the repeated disruptions of a speech given by Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren earlier this year. At the UCI-sponsored event on February 8th, which was open to the community, Ambassador Oren was interrupted numerous times by shouting students; he left the stage and was able to complete his address after 11 students were arrested and order was restored. more »
