David V. Becker, 86, Dies; Expert on Thyroid Disease

David V. Becker, a pioneer in using radioactive materials to diagnose and treat thyroid disease and an expert on the thyroid damage caused by the Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident in 1986, died Jan. 31 at his home in Manhattan.
